Roses gone bad

CLIMBERS......there are two types of climbers ones that are bred as a climber and the other is a sport of a bush rose. You get more flowers from a bred climber than a sport. The sports are very vigorous and produce one beautiful large flush and then scattered bloom afterwards. If you prune a climbing sport back hard, some may revert to a bush again. Try to bend the canes horizontally as they are growing and then many laterals will pop up along the canes and that is where the flowers will come. Climbing sports usually only have only a few basal canes. Let climbers grow for about 3 or 4 years before pruning and then just prune to keep in the space allotted. Just make sure you train them the first few years into where you want them to grow.
