Roses gone bad

RUGOSAS......this class came from the coastal sandy dunes of Japan. The older ones are disease free, however the ones that have been hybridized do tend to get some black spot. Their hips are an excellent source of vitamin C. Rugosas are extremely hardy but they do resent being sprayed with any chemical and will drop their leaves off. Even fertilizer should be placed at the base of the bush in case of a re-action.
