THE OLDROSARIAN

DAMASKS......these are the most perfumed of all old roses. They make a sturdy medium sized bush if budded. The flowers tend to have weak stalks and so droop a little. Pruning mainly means taking out the very twiggy growth so the thicker stems get more nutrients. They are generally healthy but they need a rich soil to give you large, perfect blooms and to also discourage black spot.Most are very hardy.
