Roses gone bad

GALLICAS......are the oldest classification of the old roses. Most have nice dark green foliage, dense, some twiggy growth which is prone to suckering by stolons, have few thorns and are very hardy. Because of how they enlarge, these roses can make a very wide bush in a few years as the stolons grow to about 3 inches from the main root and then becomes a new plant. They have mainly colours in the pink to purple to carmine red shades. They are also very fragrant and disease free. They do fine on poor soils and make dense compact bushes and the flowers range from single to very double. Striped sports are many in this class. These roses can be pruned back by a third or you can leave them alone. Gallicas will tolerate shade but do much better in full sun.
